Mozart's Operas and other Vocal Music

Operas   (A Complete List of Mozart's Operas)

Mozart wrote 12 musical dramas before 1781.  His fourth work, La finta semplice (The Fake Innocent),
an opera buffa in three acts that premiered in 1769 (Mozart was 13), can be considered his first true opera.

There are ten more operas from 1781 on, the seven best(?) are ...

Idomeneo ("domeneo, re di Creta ossia Ilia e Idamante", Idomeneus, King of Crete), K. 366  (1781)

Die Entführung aus dem Serail, K. 384  ("The Abduction from the Seraglio")  (1782)

The Marriage of Figaro, K. 492  (Italian: "Le nozze di Figaro"),   (1786)

   Don Giovanni, K. 527  (1787)

Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti , K. 588

("Thus Do They All, or The School for Lovers")  (1790)

La clemenza di Tito, K. 621 ("The Clemency of Titus")  (1791)

The Magic Flute, K. 620  (German: "Die Zauberflöte")  (1791)
