Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor  (1786)

Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor,  K.491  (March, 1786)

This is the second, and last, minor key symphony.

The concerto is scored for one flute, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns,
two trumpets, timpani and strings.  This is as large an orchestra Mozart ever used in a concerto.

The progressive steps of the first melody line each end on diminished 7th chord (a dissonance).  (online piano)

Murray Perahia, piano, Finnish Radio Orchestra

                                    I.  Allegro  (13:05)

Lang Lang, piano/cond.  Bavarian Radio Symphony

                                  III.  Allegretto  (8:20)

Instead of the usual sonata-rondo form 3rd movement, this movement is a set of variations.
