Piano Concerto No. 9 in Eb major  (1777)  Jeunehomme / Jenamy

Piano Concerto No. 9 in Eb major, K. 271 "Jenamy" (1777)

        1.  Mozart's first concerto masterpiece.

        2.  The Name "Jenamy"

In the 19th century, it was thought that Mozart wrote this concerto for an unnamed French
pianist 'Jeunehomme' (French for "young man") visiting Salzburg.

In 2004, it was discovered that the piece was actually dedicated toVictoire Jenamy (1749–1812),
a daughter of Jean-Georges Noverre, a dancer who was one of Mozart's friends. Mozart had made
Victoire Jenamy's acquaintance during his stay in Vienna in 1773.

          3.  Piano & strings, little use of woodwinds except to add some tonal color.

Mitsiku Uchida, piano, Mozarteum Orchestra, Jeffrey Tate, cond.

II.  Andantino, in C minor and 3/4 time (w/minuet) (11:20)

Jan Lisiecki, piano, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Hannu Lintu, conductor

III.  Rondo (Presto), in E♭ major and 2/2 time (9:40)

(A fast rondo romp; episode C is a slow minuet)
